Basics
What is Enwek?
Enwek is a link knowledge platform where every URL on the internet gets its own canonical page. When you submit a link, Enwek creates a permanent home for it — aggregating all likes, saves, comments, and click data so the community can discover, discuss, and rate it together. Think of it as a community-curated index of the internet's best content.
How is Enwek different from a search engine?
Search engines index the content inside a page. Enwek indexes knowledge about a page — who saved it, who liked it, what people said about it, and how it is rated by the community. A search engine tells you what exists; Enwek tells you what is actually worth your time.
Is Enwek free to use?
Yes. Browsing, searching, and reading link pages on Enwek is completely free. Creating an account (also free) unlocks liking, saving, commenting, and submitting links. A Premium subscription is available for advanced features like collections, analytics, and early access to new tools.
Where is Enwek based?
Enwek was founded in Ethiopia and has offices in Bahir Dar and Addis Ababa. We are proudly part of Africa's growing technology ecosystem, and our platform is designed to serve users globally — regardless of bandwidth or device.
Submitting Links
How do I submit a link?
Sign in to your account, paste the full URL into the submission box, choose the correct content type (Page, Video, PDF, or Software), pick a category, and click Submit. Enwek will check whether the link already exists — if it does, you are taken to the existing page; if not, a new canonical page is created.
What happens if the same link is submitted twice?
Enwek uses SHA-256 hashing on every normalised URL to guarantee deduplication. If you submit a link that is already in the database, you are redirected to the existing canonical page — no duplicate is created. All activity (likes, saves, comments) continues accumulating on that single page.
Can I edit a link after submitting it?
You can suggest edits to the title, description, thumbnail, and category of a link you submitted. Edits go through a brief review. The URL itself cannot be changed — it is the permanent identifier. If a URL has changed, please report it using the flag/report button.
How is the hot score for a link calculated?
The hot score is a time-decayed formula that weighs likes (×4), comments (×3), saves (×2), and clicks, then divides by the age of the link in hours raised to the power of 1.5. New links with rapid engagement rank very high; older links gradually give way to fresh content — unless they continue to attract new activity.
Content Types
What content types does Enwek support?
Enwek organises all links into four types: Pages (articles, blog posts, websites), Videos (YouTube, Vimeo, or any video URL), PDFs (documents, papers, books), and Software (apps, tools, extensions, downloads). Each type has its own filter and icon so you always know what you are opening.
What falls under "Others"?
Any link that does not clearly fit Pages, Videos, PDFs, or Software — such as audio files, interactive tools, datasets, or online games — can be submitted as "Other". Moderators may recategorise it if a better match exists.
What are the content categories?
Categories include News, Entertainment, Informative, Digital Products, Education, Science & Technology, Health, Business, Culture, and more. When you submit a link, you choose the most relevant category. The community and moderators can suggest recategorisation through the report system.
Account
Do I need an account to use Enwek?
No. You can browse, search, and read all link pages without an account. An account is required to like, save, comment, submit links, or build collections. Sign up free — it takes under a minute.
What does a Premium subscription include?
Premium subscribers get unlimited save collections, link analytics (see how many people clicked your submitted links), early access to new features, a verified badge, priority support, and ad-free browsing. See the subscription page for full details and pricing.
How do I become a verified contributor?
Verification is awarded to users who consistently submit high-quality links, have a strong community score (based on likes received on their submissions and comments), and have not violated community guidelines. There is no direct application — the system awards it automatically when thresholds are met. Premium subscribers reach the threshold faster.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. See our full Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and how it is used. Passwords are hashed; we never store them in plain text.
Community
How do likes, saves, and comments work?
Likes signal that a link is genuinely useful — they carry the most weight in the hot score. Saves add the link to your personal collection and also boost its score. Comments let you share context, tips, or discussion directly on the canonical link page. All three are public and contribute to the community's collective knowledge about that link.
Can I share a link from Enwek?
Yes. Every link card has a Share button. On mobile it triggers the native share sheet; on desktop it copies the original URL to your clipboard. You can also share the Enwek canonical page URL directly — that way your friends land on the community page with all the context, not just the raw link.
Is Enwek available on mobile?
Enwek is fully responsive and works on all screen sizes. You can add enwek.com to your home screen on Android or iOS for an app-like experience. A native mobile app is planned for a future release.
How often is the content updated?
New links are added continuously as users submit them. The hot score is refreshed every hour, so fresh popular content always rises to the top of the Explore feed quickly. There is no editorial bottleneck — the community drives the feed in real time.
Trust & Safety
How do I report a broken or harmful link?
On every link page there is a Report button. Select the reason — Spam, Broken URL, Inappropriate Content, Misleading, Duplicate, or Other — and optionally add a note. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team within 24 hours. Accounts that repeatedly submit harmful content are suspended.
Can I trust the links on Enwek?
The community hot score and moderation system together surface trustworthy content. Links with many likes and saves from verified contributors are generally reliable. That said, always exercise your own judgment — Enwek is a discovery platform, not a fact-checking service. For critical decisions, verify important information from the source.
What is the Flag / Report system?
Any logged-in user can flag a link with a reason: Spam, Broken URL, Inappropriate, Misleading, Duplicate, or Other. Multiple reports from different users trigger an automatic review queue. Moderators then decide whether to remove, re-categorise, or clear the link. The reporter is notified of the outcome.
